GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its winter honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team. Defiance College placed two student-athletes on the list to raise its 2009-2010 total to 17 entering the spring seasons.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference released its 2010 All-HCAC selections on Wednesday, March 3. Defiance College’s Mandie White and Shavonda Price both received the All-HCAC nod, with DC’s Tasha Stucke receiving an All-HCAC Honorable Mention.
FRANKLIN, Ind. – A strong season came to a close for the Defiance College women’s basketball team on Friday, as they watched the top-seeded Grizzlies rally in the final minute to take the 58-52 win. With a final record of 17-10, this year’s squad posted the best record the program has seen since the 2003-04 season.
FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Lady Jackets wrapped up the 2009-10 regular season on Saturday, losing in a 67-62 decision at Franklin College (19-6, 13-3 HCAC). DC will enter the HCAC Tournament as the number four seed, meaning they will host the number five seed, Manchester University, on Tuesday.
BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Lady Jackets were handed their first road loss since January 6th on Wednesday night, falling 96-91, in an overtime decision at Bluffton University (8-16, 5-11 HCAC). With the loss, Defiance drops into the fourth seed in the HCAC as the final week of the regular season approaches.
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Lady Jackets got a big win on Saturday, knocking off Mount St. Joseph, 81-68, while taking the first of three-straight road games to close out the regular season. Defiance improves to 16-7 with the win, and 10-4 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Lady Jackets’ seven-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon as they dropped an 88-80 decision to Transylvania (15-6, 10-3 HCAC). The loss marks the first time since December 2nd that Defiance has came up short at home, and drops the Jackets into a tie with Hanover for third place in the HCAC.
N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Lady Jackets recorded their seventh-straight conference win on Wednesday night, defeating Manchester on the road, 67-59, to improve their conference record to 9-3. With the win, the Jackets become the second team to clinch a spot in the HCAC Tournament, and sit just half of a game behind first-place Franklin for the top spot.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Lady Jackets outlasted Hanover on Saturday, downing their HCAC rival, 85-74, to improve their conference winning streak to six straight. The win gives Defiance (14-6, 8-3 HCAC) sole possession of third place, and puts the Jackets half a game behind second-place Franklin with five games remaining.
Anderson, Ind. – Defiance showed great resiliency on Wednesday night, pulling out a thrilling, 77-68, overtime win on the road in a crucial conference game against Anderson. The win moves the Yellow Jackets (13-6, 7-3 HCAC) into a tie with Hanover for third place in the HCAC.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Mandie White led the Lady Jackets to conference victories over Bluffton and Rose-Hulman last week and has been named the HCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for the second time during her 2009-10 campaign. She is one of only two players to earn the award multiple times this season.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Lady Jackets got off to a slow start at Rose-Hulman on Saturday, but turned things around in the second half to claim a, 61-42, victory. Defiance has now won four consecutive conference competitions and sits just one game out of first place in the HCAC.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Lady Jackets won their third straight conference game on Wednesday night, defeating Bluffton University, 83-71, to improve to 5-3 in HCAC competition. Defiance claims the second best conference record with the victory and has now won 10 of 11 home games this season.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance continued its home court dominance on Saturday afternoon, defeating the previously first-place Franklin Grizzlies, 81-63. The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-3 in the HCAC with the win and have now won nine of their ten home games this season.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lady Jackets let a first-half lead slip through their fingers, dropping a 81-72 decision to Transylvania University (8-5, 3-2 HCAC) on Wednesday night, in a game that saw nine ties and 20 lead changes. DC falls to 2-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition with the loss.
