Price Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College's Shavonda Price has been named as one of five student-athletes from all of NCAA Division III to earn a spot on the fourth D3hoops.com Team of the Week of the 2009-2010 season.

Price averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.7 steals per night, while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and being named the Hubbard Company – Pro Rehab Tournament Most Valuable Player. The strong performances of Price fueled DC to a 3-0 record on the week, the Hubbard Company – Pro Rehab Tournament Championship and the program's first three-game win streak since 2007.

The Fort Wayne, Ind, native has been on fire of late, leading the Jackets in scoring in five of their last six contests, while stuffing the stat sheet with 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.0 blocks a night during that span.

Price currently leads Defiance (7-5, 2-2 HCAC) with 12.7 points a night, 24 steals and 21 blocks on the season and ranks among the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's top 10 players in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Price was joined on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week by Louisiana College's Christy Pantallion, Rowan's Amanda Jennings, Millsaps' Shante' Morton and George Fox's Hannah Munger.

Price and the Jackets will return to action on January 3, when they host Capital at 3:00 pm.
