After a slow start on day one of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday, the Defiance College men’s track team had an impressive outing on Saturday, winning two events and finishing 6th out of 10 teams with 54 points. Tawon Cannon and Robert Marshall each claimed event titles.
The Defiance College men's track & field team placed fourth out of five teams thanks in large part to sprinter Robert Marshall who placed first in both the 100 and 200 meters. His times in both events are the fastest in the HCAC so far this season.
The Defiance College track & field teams traveled to Owensboro, Ky. on Friday to compete in the Kentucky Wesleyan Twilight Invitational. Joshua Gaffney placed first in the men’s 400 meters with a time of 52.60 seconds.
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the results of its preseason coaches poll for the 2021 outdoor track and field season on Wednesday morning. The Defiance College men’s team was chosen to finished fifth in the conference while the women were picked to finish ninth.
On Saturday the Defiance College men’s and women’s track and field program will begin the 2020-21 outdoor season at the Cedarville Yellowjacket Collegiate Open. This season will be the first outdoor season for Defiance head coach Nathan Christianson, who was hired during the 2019-20 indoor season.
