DEFIANCE, Ohio - Four goals after halftime allowed the Lourdes Gray Wolves to accelerate past the Defiance Yellow Jackets for a 6-1 victory during Wednesday's WHAC men's soccer match at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.
The Yellow Jackets (2-12-1, 1-7 WHAC) endured consistent pressure on the net for most of the contest, allowing 33 total shots. DC's Jacob Goldsberry logged nine saves in the loss, including a diving, two-handed stop in the 20th minute to keep the game scoreless.
The Gray Wolves (9-6-0, 5-3-0 WHAC) posted two scores in the first half, both by Jack Pelton. His first goal was a header past the keeper and over the defender during the 27th minute while the second was a long strike from above the top-right corner of the penalty box.
After a third goal by Lourdes after the break, Defiance got on the board off a set play from 21 yards out when Henrique Wozniak netted a goal-scoring strike off an indirect kick in the 64th minute. The goal for DC was Wozniak's team-best third score of the season. However, Lourdes answered right back one minute later on a second goal by Asa Karns and went on to score two more times in the 73rd and 76th minutes.
The Jackets were held to just five shots total and two on goal, including one from senior Brent Rader who hustled and made an impact on both sides of the ball in the first half.
