DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to the Taylor Trojans at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field on Saturday evening.
In a gritty, defense-first showdown, the Yellow Jackets and Trojans refused to budge, battling through a scoreless opening period. Defiance held Taylor to five shots, while the Purple and Gold had once chance at the keeper. Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Harper prevailed with two saves on both shots-on-goal.
The Trojans began to strike with power in the second period leading to two goals by their freshman forward Noel Calix. With under 10 minutes remaining, Taylor found the back of the net once more to complete the scoring. Both defenses, though, stayed relentless as the match consisted of just 15 shots overall.
