Miller Breaks 5K Record at Wilmington
WILMINGTON, OHIO – The Defiance College women’s cross country team traveled to Wilmington, Ohio to compete in the JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College and finished 30th with a team score of 844.
WILMINGTON, OHIO – The Defiance College women's cross country team traveled to Wilmington, Ohio to compete in the JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College and finished 30th with a team score of 844.
Defiance was led by junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. /Jay County) who ran a time of 18:22.4 and finished second overall. Miller shattered her previous record that she set last year in the 5K by close to 30 seconds. Sophomore Aaron Textor (Swanton) had the second quickest time for the Yellow Jackets crossing the line at 23:30.4 Senior Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center) crossed the line next on the team at the 25:50.1 minute mark followed by junior Kayla Miller (Wadsworth) who finished in 26:19.1. Rounding out the scoring times was junior Emily Denhard (Troy, Mich. /Kolbe Academy) who crossed the line in 27:59.8.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday Oct. 31 when they travel to Shelbyville, Ind. to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Franklin (Ind.) College. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
