DC finishes as top HCAC team in All-Ohio Championships
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Defiance took part in the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships today. It features colleges and universities of all divisions from all over Ohio and recognizes the best teams and runners in the state.

The DC women were able to finish 36th out of 42 teams that competed. They were also able to finish in 17th as a team at the Division III level of the 21 that ran. The women were also able to finish as the top Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, which also included beating Bluffton for the first time this year.
The Lady Yellow Jacket runners put together a total time of 2:20:05.13, which is the total time of their top five runners combined. They also finished with 993 team points.
Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay County) once again led the way for DC. She came in with a time of 24:43.42 which was good enough for 91st place overall of the 283 runners that competed. That time also put her in 40th place for Division III runners out of the 140 that raced.
Kelsey Bowling (Sidney, Ohio/Houston) came in next for the Lady Yellow Jackets. She finished in 218th overall with a time of 27:27.66. That was also good enough for her to nab 99th in Division III.
Coming into the chute third for the Jackets was Krysten King (Ney, Ohio/Fairview) with a time of 28:44.88. King was able to take 109th and 235th overall.
With a time of 28:48.81, Brittney Holmes (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) came in next for DC. She was able to finish in 238th overall with a Division III finish of 112th.
Sadie Daeger (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Jackets, coming in with a time of 30:20.36. That put her in 123rd and 253rd overall.
Also racing for Defiance was Marissa Bussard (Whitehall, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) and Taylor Traut (Bettsville, Ohio/Bettsville) who finished with times of 30:25.11 and 31:48.00 respectively.
The overall winner was freshman runner Delainey Phelps out of Ashland University with a time of 22:04.72. The University of Dayton was able to capture the team title, with a total team time of 1:54:50.30. All five of UD's runners finished in the top 40.
Oberlin won the team title in Division III with a team time of 1:56:03.72. They also had the first two runners across the line with Molly Martorella and Lindsay Neal finishing with times of 22:13.96 and 22:37.46 respectively.
The Defiance College women run again in two weeks at the Wilmington Invitational. Start time for the race on the 18th will be at 4:30 pm.
