BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Defiance College women's cross country team accounted for each of the top-five overall times at the Bluffton Dual Meet on Friday, and posted a perfect team score of six at the event, which awarded point to each of the teams' top-three scorers.
DC's harriers also accounted for seven of the top-eight overall times as they won the event in dominating fashion. The Yellow Jackets have now earned the team title in two of three meets this year.
Kaitlin Switzer recorded the fastest time at the meet, completing the 3k course in 11:49.30 to lead the Yellow Jacket harriers for the ninth-consecutive race, dating back to September 25, 2009. The race also marked the second time in three meets this season that Switzer has claimed the individual title.
DC's Ericha Griep finished second at the meet, coming in at 12:06.21 to earn her third-straight second-place finish for the Yellow Jackets. Kate Busto came in third overall at 12:24.09 to complete the sweep for Defiance.
Had the event recorded the top-five runners from each school as most cross country meets do, the Yellow Jackets would have still swept the competition, as Erika DeBos (12:32.08) and Ellen Stryffeler (12:42.83) finished fourth and fifth at the meet respectively.
The Yellow Jackets will continue the season on Friday, October 1, when they travel to Cedarville, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Championships, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
