WHAC announces Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Awards
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference released its 2025 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Awards on Thursday ahead of Friday's conference tournament semifinals. Among the players recognized were two Second Team honors, a Champion of Character, and 10 Academic All-Conference winners.
DC's two All-WHAC performers were junior Chaney Brodbeck (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) and senior Jaelyn Tomoletz (Perry, Ohio/Perry), each among the conference's Second Team. With two Second Team award winners, the Yellow Jackets received multiple All-Conference performers for the first time since 2022 when Tomoletz was one of two Second Team All-HCAC players during her freshman season.
Tomoletz was one of the best defensive players in the WHAC this season, posting a career-high 119 total blocks to and went over 100 blocks for the second season in a row. Her total blocks ranked 3rd in the WHAC through Wednesday's quarterfinal round the WHAC Tournament and is 6th in the conference in blocks per set at 0.98. Tomoletz was also 4th on the team with 146 kills but had a team-high .356 hitting percentage.
Brodbeck put together one of the finest all-around seasons in the conference for her first All-Conference Team award. Ending the season with 403 kills, she became the 5th player in program history to strike 400 kills in a season and finished 4th on the program's single-season kills list. Through Wednesday's action in the WHAC Tournament, Brodbeck sits 4th in the conference in total kills and 8th in kills per set (3.25). Brodbeck also led the team in digs with 370, good for 7th in the conference, and 65 aces, which was tied for the WHAC lead through Wednesday.
Senior captain Kirsten Vanisacker (Newport, Mich./Jefferson) represented the Yellow Jackets on the WHAC's Champion of Character Team for the second straight season. The Champions of Character Team included one member from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Tomoletz, Vanisacker and Brodbeck were also recognized among Defiance's 10 Academic All-Conference players, matching a program record for the most academic all-conference awards in a season. Vanisacker earned her third Academic All-Conference award. Second-time academic award winners from the WHAC include Tomoletz, Amina Chamoun (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview) and Shelby Clements (Monrovia, Ind./Monrovia). Among Defiance's first-time winners of conference academic achievement were Brodbeck, Gabby Rodriguez (Alvordton, Ohio/Hilltop), Kaylee Dickinson (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora), Addison Martinez (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield), Kate Suter (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) and Ava Thomas (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville).
