Jackets Pick Up Straight-Set Win at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Defiance College took on Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival, Franklin College, in a non-conference clash on Friday night and came away with a comfortable three-set victory.

The Yellow Jackets had control throughout the match, en route to finishing off the 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 victory for their 11th win of the season. Marlea Rolander dominated the net with 10 kills in 16 swings for a blistering .437 percentage, while Danyel Lipps moved closer to DC's all-time kills mark with 10 slams of her own.

Lipps is now just 19 kills shy of Nikki Retcher's (2001-2004) school record of 1,138 career kills and will have a chance to move closer on Saturday, when DC opens HCAC play at Rose-Hulman (10-5). The match with R-H is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
