Volleyball Wraps Up Weekend with Sweep of Westminster

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College closed out its season-opening performance at the 2009 Mount Union Tournament on Saturday by splitting a pair of matches against Case Western and Westminster.
The Jackets opened the second day of the tournament with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-20 loss to Case Western. Danyel Lipps led DC once again with 11 kills, while Sara Porter rounded up a team-best 14 digs to anchor the defense.
In the second match of the afternoon, Defiance rebounded to bounce Westminster in straight sets. Porter led the offense this time around by pounding 13 kills in the 25-13, 25-24, 25-13 victory. Heather Bradshaw and Porter each picked up six digs to pace the defense.
Defiance finishes the weekend with a 2-2 mark and will play at Ohio Northern on Tuesday, September 8. The non-conference match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
