Markau named HCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for second time this season

CARMEL, Ind. - Defiance senior Lisa-Maria Markau has been named the HCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

At the home track meet last week, Markau set a new personal best in the 400 meter dash. She completed it in 1:02.74 minutes, surpassing her previous record by nearly seven minutes. 

At the All-Ohio Championships, she competed in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.

In the 60m prelims, she won her heat with a time of 8.01 seconds and finished fifth overall in the finals. She was named the 200 meter dash D3 All-Ohio Champion, completing it in a school record tying time of 26.09 seconds. She now joins Micah Wilson (2014) in the 200 meter dash record books.

Track and Field returns to action this Saturday at the Wittenberg Invitational.
