Women's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day with HCAC Battle

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College women's tennis team wrapped up the 2019 home season with a contest against HCAC foe Franklin College on Saturday morning. The Yellow Jackets fell to the visiting Grizzlies 9-0 in the contest.

The warm day at the Dix Tennis Facility saw the Yellow Jackets celebrate a pair of seniors in Rylea Amspaugh (Nashport / Lakewood) and Alexa St. Julian (Oregon / Clay).

While not on the same court, the senior duo saw similar results in doubles action. Both the number one pairing of St. Julian and A.J. Breneman (Bryan / Bryan) and the number two pairing of Amspaugh and Sydney Huston (Indianapois, Lawrence) battled to win four games before falling 8-4.

In singles action, St. Julian led the way for the Purple and Gold. The Oregon, Ohio native took seven games from her Franklin opponent.

The defeat drops the Yellow Jackets' record to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in HCAC play. DC begins their lengthy stretch of away fixtures on Wednesday, September 25, as they travel to Earlham College. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
