DEFIANCE, OH – The Defiance College women's tennis team suffered a second loss today, falling 8-1 to Thomas More (Ky.) College.
In doubles action, tandem Hannah Hesterman and Cayla Walker battled at No. 1 doubles but were defeated 8-4. Duo Alicia Breneman and Courtney Alexander were brought down 8-0 at second doubles while partners Mackenzie Combs and Chelsey Braunwart fell 8-2.
Breneman came away with the only Yellow Jacket victory this afternoon, taking No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1. At first singles, Hesterman dropped her set 6-2, 6-0 while Walker was stumped 6-3, 6-1 at third singles. Alexander, Sydney Huston and Braunwart were all knocked off 6-0, 6-1 at fourth, fifth and sixth singles.
Defiance returns to action on Wednesday, September 6 as they host Ohio Northern University at the Dix Tennis Facility. First serve is set for 12:00 PM.
