DEFIANCE, OH – The Defiance College women's tennis team hosted Huntington (Ind.) University in a non-conference match this afternoon, falling 0-9 at the Dix Tennis Facility.
Defiance (0-1) was swept in all three doubles competitions. Juniors Hannah Hesterman and Cayla Walker were defeated 8-1 at first doubles while senior Courtney Alexander and freshman Alicia Breneman dropped second doubles 8-1. At third doubles, Mackenzie Combs and Chelsey Braunwart fell 8-0.
In singles action, Hesterman was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while Breneman battled at second singles, eventually falling 6-1, 6-0. Walker dropped No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0 as Alexander, Sydney Huston and Combs were all trumped 6-0, 6-0 at fourth, fifth and sixth singles.
Defiance continues their schedule with a home match against Thomas More (Ky.) College on Saturday, September 2. First serve is set for 12:00 PM.
