Women’s soccer announces 2024 schedule ahead of 30th season
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College women's soccer announced the team's 18-game schedule ahead of the program's 30th season to be played in 2024, the DC Athletic Department announced on Friday.
The program's first season at the NAIA level begins with a visit to Fort Wayne against the Saint Francis Cougars on August 17, which will be a Saturday night contest. The team's home opener will be against Midway on the final day of August beginning at 2 p.m. Defiance's first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match will be at Cleary University on Saturday, September 14 and the conference slate concludes with a trip to Lourdes on Wednesday, October 30.
This season's schedule features three holdovers from the 2023 campaign, all of which will be part of the team's six-game non-conference schedule. The first of those will be Great Lakes Christian in the second game of the year. DC starts September with a pair of NCAA Division III foes at Adrian on September 4 before hosting rival Bluffton on Monday, September 9. The Yellow Jackets and Beavers will play for the 33rd time when they meet this fall.
As for the 15 other schools on the schedule, 10 matches will be first-time meetings on the pitch. Among the WHAC, Defiance plays their first matches against Indiana Tech since 2019, Rochester since 2014, and Concordia since 2002. Non-conference foes Saint Francis and Taylor last faced DC in 2008.
Standard start times for weekday games are 3:30 p.m. with Saturday conference matches beginning at 1 p.m. All game times are subject to change.
