Defiance Ends Season With Loss to Mt. St. Joseph

CINCINNATI, OHIO- The Defiance College women's soccer team ended their 2016 season in a 7-0 loss to Mount St. Joseph University in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference finale.
Mount St. Joseph (11-6-1, 7-2 HCAC) started the first half with goal number one at the 9:56 mark. Defiance's (2-13, 2-7 HCAC) Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green) took what turned out to be DC's only shot of the half during the 22nd minute, but the attempt was saved by the Lion netminder.
The Yellow Jacket defense held the Lions scoreless until just before the end of the first half, when MSJ found the back of the net at the 44:34 mark. The goal would be the final scoring of the period as the teams headed into halftime with the Jackets trailing by two goals, 2-0.
The Lions started off quickly with their third goal of the contest just under two minutes into the second half. The Lions kept the offensive pressure up and went on to add four more goals en route to the 7-0 shutout.
Freshman Madi Bowman (Eaton) played the first 60:40 seconds in net for the Jackets. She recorded eight saves and allowed six goals against before freshman Kiana Carpenter (Homesville/Triway) had her turn in the net for the remaining 29:20 minutes, giving up a goal.
