Redick, Ledford Power Defiance Past Ravens

ANDERSON, Ind. –The Defiance College women's soccer team opened up Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an impressive win at Anderson University. DC dominated the game from start to finish and won the game by a score of 3-0.

Defiance opened up the scoring in the 26th minute when freshman forward Alicia Ledford scored her second goal of the season off of a rebound shot from Karly Smith to give DC the lead.

Just before the half Maegan Redick struck for Defiance's second goal of the game and gave the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead entering the break. DC dominated the first half as it outshot Anderson 13 to three.

The Jackets began the second half with the same dominating play as it imposed in the first. The Lady Jackets had many scoring opportunities and scored its third goal in the 83rd minute when Maegan Redick scored her second goal of the day and season.

Redick's goal sealed the victory for Defiance as it went on to win 3-0. The three goal performance marks the most goals DC has scored this year to date.

The win moves the Lady Jackets' record to 3-5 on the season and 1-0 in the HCAC.

The Jackets are next in action on Tuesday, September 27 when they return home to host Marygrove. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. and will be played at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.
