Wrestling goes 1-1 on Senior Day
The Defiance wrestling team hosted Mount St. Joseph and Manchester in the HCAC on Wednesday and went 1-1, losing a tightly contested match to Mount St. Joseph 25-22 and defeating Manchester 30-11
The Defiance wrestling team hosted Mount St. Joseph and Manchester in the HCAC on Wednesday and went 1-1, losing a tightly contested match to Mount St. Joseph 25-22 and defeating Manchester 30-11. The Yellow Jackets finish the season 4-1 in home duals. Defiance also celebrated Senior Day and honored senior Cortez Bradley, Mason Morris, Alex Smith, and Rigo Villa prior to the match against Manchester.
The Mount St. Joseph Dual
- Junior Seth Majewski won by tech fall over Jake Cotsonas 16-0 at 133-lbs.
- At 141-lbs, Smith also won by tech fall, defeating Desmond Diggs 15-0.
- Sophomore Brent Eicher won by forfeit at 149-lbs.
- Bradley pinned Roger Deck in 4:49 in the 157-lbs match.
- Junior Alejandro Castro was pinned by Judah Thomas at 165-lbs.
- Sophomore Deontae Davis was pinned by Cornell Beachem at 174-lbs.
- Antonio McCloud pinned junior Jack Minner at 184-lbs.
- Nathaniel Armstrong won a 22-8 major decision over Morris at 197-lbs.
- Sophomore Jonah Schlegel lost a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to Cameron Sauerwein at heavyweight.
The Manchester Dual
- Majewski won a 2-0 decision at 133-lbs over Joshua Stephenson.
- Smith picked up a forfeit at 141-lbs.
- Eicher dropped a 14-4 major decision to Elijah Phillips at 149-lbs.
- At 157-lbs Bradley took a forfeit to give six more points to the Yellow Jackets.
- Junior Keringten Martin pinned Zach Morgan at 157-lbs in 1:54.
- Sophomore Sean Rankin won a 5-2 decision over Joshua Lee at 174-lbs.
- Freshman Joey Perez lost a 10-0 major decision to Devontay Moore at 184-lbs.
- Morris dropped a 6-3 decision at 197-lbs to Alex Gronkiewicz.
- Villa took a forfeit at heavyweight to close out the match.
