Women’s golf starts spring season at DC’s Island Pointe Intercollegiate
KODAK, Tenn. - The Defiance College women's golf program launched the spring half of their season by co-hosting the Island Pointe Intercollegiate alongside the men's program in Eastern Tennessee.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot 409 on Thursday followed by an improved 407 on Friday. DC's 816 combined score was sixth out of six teams.
Senior Winter Boroff led Defiance during the first and second rounds and finished 10th place with a 171 total. She started with an 86 and stook 12th place after the first round but bettered her score on the second day with a pair of birdies.
Emily Momany closed in 24th with a 201 on rounds of 98 and 103. Hailey Becker set a personal best with a 104 and had the team's lone birdie of Round 1. Braylin Shaner opened with a 121 on Thursday but shaved seven strokes off her second round with a 114.
William Penn's Olivia Lange picked up medalist honors with rounds of 76 and 75 for a combined 151. Lange cleared the field by 11 strokes. William Penn also claimed the team title by 36 strokes over second-place Huntington after team rounds totalling 644.
