Vance named WGCA Academic All-American for third time
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College junior golfer Isabelle Vance (Continental, Ohio/Miller City) was named to the 2023-24 All-American Scholar Team by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, the group announced this week.
Vance was among 1,497 female college golfers to be awarded the title of Academic All-American. The criteria require a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA, holding a roster spot through the conclusion of the season, and play in at least half of the team's scheduled competitive rounds through the conference championship.
This is the third Academic All-American honor for Vance in her college career. She earned the award as a freshman while playing at Bluffton before carrying over the academic success to DC as a sophomore. Vance is the first two-time recipient of Academic All-American status in program history while the women's golf program has had at least one award winner in three of the last four years.
On the course this year, Vance played in all 25 rounds and carried an 89.5 18-hole average with three top-10 finishes. Her season-long average finished third on the team and ranked fifth-best in program history. She also cracked the program's top-10 list for a single round by firing a personal-best round of 80 at the Manchester Invite during the fall season.
Defiance College is celebrating 175 years on March 23, 2025. The 175th Anniversary Campaign is currently underway. Click here to find out more or to give today!
