DC drops road decision to red-hot Rochester Christian
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - Defiance College women's basketball suffered an 88-30 loss to the Rochester Christian Warriors in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday at Garth Pleasant Arena.
The Yellow Jackets (3-16, 0-13 WHAC) shouldered the team's 12th consecutive loss while the Warriors (13-6, 12-1 WHAC) completed their sixth straight win to keep pace with Indiana Tech for first place in the conference.
Despite an 11-2 start for Rochester Christian, Defiance battled back in the first quarter with two buckets by San'Taizia Thomas followed by another from Kayla Houston to trim the deficit to 4 points with 2 minutes left in the quarter. Taylor Haynes drained a 3-pointer early in the second quarter keep Defiance within five, but the Warriors compiled a 25-0 run through the second to take control of the game.
Defiance finished the game with a season-low 18.3 percent shooting percentage and turned the ball over 28 times. Rochester Christian posted a 50 percent shooting percentage and won the battle of the boards, 54-37. Jourdyn Wynn led Defiance with 8 points and also had 9 rebounds. Haynes came away with a 6-point, 8-rebound night, and Thomas added DC's lone 6 points off the bench.
