Wynn, Houston carry DC in home loss to Lawrence Tech
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Despite a 23-point effort by Kayla Houston and a double-double from Jourdyn Wynn, the Defiance Yellow Jackets could not overcome turnovers in a 79-45 loss to the Lawrence Tech Blue Deviles at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Saturday.
Houston's 23 points for the Yellow Jackets (3-15, 0-12 WHAC) were a season-high and her first 20-point effort of the season, while Wynn logged her second double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Blue Devils (4-13, 3-9 WHAC) turned defense into offense throughout the game, forcing Defiance into a season-high 33 turnovers and converting them into 41 points. After a competitive opening quarter, the Blue Devils seized control in the second period, holding Defiance to just two points while building a 40–14 halftime lead.
Defiance showed improved energy after halftime, winning the third quarter 17-15. Despite that surge, Lawrence Tech maintained control throughout the second half, extending its lead with fast-break baskets and consistent scoring inside. The Blue Devils, who are second in the WHAC in 3-point shooting, knocked down 10 treys for the game. DC closed the game with a higher shooting percentage than Lawrence Tech, 37.5 to 35.4, and won the rebound battle 44-41.
