Haynes named WHAC WBB Defensive Player of the Week
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced on Monday to award Defiance College sophomore guard Taylor Haynes the league's Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The DC sophomore helped apply pressure through two regular-season contests last week with 13 total steals, two blocks and 12 total rebounds while averaging 9.0 points across those contests.
Haynes came away with a season-high 8 steals against IU East last Monday while the Yellow Jackets forced the Red Wolves into 26 turnovers. On Wednesday against Lourdes, Haynes poked the ball free 5 more times and also came away with 1 block in each contest. For the season, the Cleveland native leads the Yellow Jackets with 44 steals through her 9 games played, which also leads the WHAC at 4.9 steals per game.
With the award, Haynes picked up her second career WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Award. This is the second weekly defensive honor for the Yellow Jackets this season.
