Jackets upended at home as Lourdes’ keeps rolling
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance Yellow Jackets suffered a 100-47 loss at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Wednesday while the Lourdes Gray Wolves improved to 7-0 to start the season.
The Gray Wolves came out shooting and knocked down 5 first-quarter 3-pointers to build a 31-8 advantage through the first 10 minutes. They entered the locker room shooting 62 percent through the first half with 8 treys and crashed the boards with a plus-9 advantage at the break. Their 60-23 halftime lead was aided by lengthy runs of 16-0 and 9-0 during the first half.
Lourdes went on to outscore Defiance 40-24 after the break to surpass 100 points for the first time this season. The 53-point loss was also the largest margin of defeat for DC this season. The Gray Wolves feasted from the floor shooting an impressive 51 percent while the Jackets struggled for 22 percent shooting.

- Taylor Haynes led the Yellow Jackets with 10 points in the loss and also secured 7 rebounds. She had 5 steals as well to reach 99 for her career.
- Jourdyn Wynn posted an 8-point and 8-rebound evening to lead the Jackets on the boards.
- Lourdes' pressure created issues for the Yellow Jackets all night, forcing DC into 27 turnovers.
- The Gray Wolves were fueled on offense by their backcourt duo of Kaylona Buter (32 points) and Napoleon grad Emma Pedroza (19 points).
