Women's Basketball picked last in HCAC preseason poll
CARMEL, Ind. - The Defiance College women's basketball team was picked to finish last in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) preseason poll.
Transylvania was voted to finish first and accumulated 81 points while receiving nine first place votes. Hanover came in second with 71 points and received the final first place vote. The top half of the poll also includes Mount St. Joseph (65 points), Bluffton (50 points) while Anderson and Franklin were both tied for fifth and received 46 points each.
The bottom half of the poll features Manchester (36 points), Rose-Hulman (26 points), Earlham (16 points), and Defiance (13 points).
The Yellow Jackets will open their season at home on Wednesday, November 8 at home against Ohio Wesleyan. November also includes trips to Heidelberg on the 12th and a trip to Wooster on the 18th. The rest of November features home games against Adrian on the 15th, Kenyon on the 21st, and Hiram on the 27th.
Defiance will begin December with a conference game at Transylvania on the 2nd. That will be followed with another road conference game at Hanover on the 9th. The final non-conference game will be played on December 16 at Kalamazoo and the first home conference game is set for December 28 against Mt. St. Joseph. December concludes with a trip to Earlham on the 30th.
January begins with a road trip to Manchester that will be followed by five straight home games beginning with Rose-Hulman on the 6th. The rest of the home stretch includes games against Bluffton, Franklin, Anderson, and Transylvania. The Transylvania game on the 20th begins the second time through conference play.
February includes five games to conclude the regular season with three being played on the road. The home games are Hanover on the 10th and Manchester on the 13th.
