Bio
Levi Hoffman is the first head coach of Defiance's powerlifting program and has held the role since the team was announced in October 2024.
With a multi-sport background in coaching, this is Levi's first college-level coaching role. He has four years of experience as a high school powerlifting coach at Morenci. He also has four years of football coaching experience as a junior high head coach and a varsity assistant. Hoffman has also mentored junior high track for two seasons plus one year at the high school level developing throwers in addition to the track program's strength coach.
Aside from coaching, Hoffman has an extensive background as a successful powerlifter. He broke multiple state and national records during his career and was a four-time high school state champion in Michigan. He was also a resident athlete at the US Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan while training for Olypmpic weightlifting. Among his career achievements is a third-place finish at the IPF World Sub-Juniors and Juniors Powerlifting Championships held in Brazil in 2009. He also is a four-time national champion across multiple divisions at USA Powerlifting meets, two-time runner-up and eight-time top-5 finisher.
Hoffman is a 2009 graduate of Morenci High School in Michigan and earned his bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan.
