DC's Cook claims national title at USAPL Bench Press Nationals

APPLETON, Wisc. - Defiance College freshman powerlifter Rayne Cook (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) won the program's fourth national title of the 2025-26 campaign with a victory at USAPL Bench Press Nationals last week.

Competing at the Fox Cities Expo Center, Cook went a perfect 3-for-3 on her lifts with a top weight of 90 kg (198 lbs). Cook competed in the Teen 3 Division at the 100+ kg class and was the lone Yellow Jacket to compete in the meet. The gold medal for Cook was her second first-place finish of her first college season and third podium overall. For the program, Cook joins Dominic Bingham, Mikayla Twum, and Braylin Shaner to win a gold medal at a USAPL National event this year. 

Defiance College powerlifting returns to action in the fall with the full schedule to be announced at a later date.
