DC Powerlifting captures three titles at USAPL Raw Nationals
CHICAGO - Defiance College Powerlifting sent four competitors to the USAPL Raw Nationals in Chicago over the weekend and returned with three national championship titles.
Completing a banner first season of competition for most of DC's powerlifters, the four national qualifiers were Dominic Bingham (Men's Raw Teen III 82.5), Mikayla Twum (Women's III 90), Braylin Shaner (Women's Raw Teen III 100+), and Zachariah Burroughs (Men's Raw Teen III 110). Bingham, Twum and Shaner all captured gold medals for their divisions.
Bingham totaled 642.5 kg to claim his first national title. It was his third first place finish in an event to finish his freshman campaign.
Twum completed a stellar year with a first place finish with a 500 kg total, beating second place by 75 kg. She added personal best lifts in the bench, squat and grand total. Twum also competed in the Raw Open for all ages and claimed 9th place out of 34 athletes. For Twum, the victory was her third overall win this year.
Shaner's first place win included a total lift of 362.5 kg, winning by 12.5 kg. She set new PRs in the squat, bench and overall total.
Burroughs PR'd in both the bench and squat and finished with a 602.5 kg to finish 6th in his division.
