Powerlifting notches two more first-place finishes in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Defiance College powerlifting completed another impressive showing over the weekend as the first-year program turned in four podium finishes with two gold medal lifters at the Pittsburgh Collegiate Cup.
Mikayla Twum captured her second first-place finish of the season with personal bests across the board. Totalling 981 lbs across all three disciplines, she beat her prior PRs and set a new state and regional record on 207.5 kg (457.46 lb) deadlift. Also winning first-place in her first powerlifting competition was Braylin Shaner, totalling 633 lbs and cleared 6 of 9 lifts.
Defiance also received two podium finishes from the men's side with Zachariah Burroughs earning second place in his division along with Dominic Bingham finishing third in his. Burroughs earned his first podium finish of the season while setting PRs on every lift. For Bingham, he nearly missed a first-place finish but a slip of the bar dropped him to third. He also set personal bests on all three lifts and medaled in the third meet in a row.
