Four Yellow Jackets medal at the Olympia in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Defiance College powerlifting competed in the Olympia held at the Resorts World Las Vegas over the weekend while four lifters turned in podium finishes.
DC had two gold medal winners with Rayne Cook and Dominic Bingham winning their divisions. Both lifters earned medals in their first event in Wisconsin as well. Cook competed on Friday night in the Olympia Open and was the leader in the bench press, totaling 198.4 pounds for the gold. Bingham competed in Saturday's Olympia Primetime and converted all nine lifts with a grand total of 1372.4 pounds to finish atop his division. It is the second straight competition gold for Bingham.
Both Mikayla Twum and Masen Switzer earned silver medals in their divisions on Saturday. Twum had a record-setting day after a 451.95-pound deadlift set a regional record for her weight class. She went on to clear 8 of 9 lifts and totaled 953.5 pounds to earn the silver medal, her second podium of the year. Swizter competed in the men's junior division and finished second with a grand total weight of 1410.96 pounds. Switzer's total was the most by a Yellow Jacket in a single competition through two tournaments and earned his first podium of the year.

Defiance goes to Pittsburgh on Nov. 8 and will compete in the Pittsburgh Collegiate Cup at the Legends of Pittsburgh.
