DC grounded by #10 Bethel
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets were defeated in straight sets (25-13, 25-19, 25-14) by the 10th-ranked Bethel Pilots during Saturday's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference men's volleyball action at the Karl H. Weaner Center.
The Yellow Jackets (2-7, 1-5 WHAC) squared off against their fourth ranked opponent in conference play to start the season. The Pilots (8-2, 6-0) swung very well all afternoon, leading to a swift decision over DC. In the first set, Bethel committed just one attacking error and finished with 9 for the match, hitting .366 as a team. Defiance's best offensive stretch was during the second set, striking for 7 kills to 4 errors for their only positive attacking percentage for the night.
Thaddeus Setla led the Jackets with 11 kills, his second match in double figures over the last three contests. Adam Sutton converted 13 assists and Oniel Alvarez led the team defensively with 10 digs.
