Wilson named WHAC Male Track Athlete of the Week
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College freshman sprinter Xavier Wilson was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference's Male Track Athlete of the Week after two winning races this weekend.
Competing at Grand Valley State's Bill Clinger Classic, Wilson raced the 60 and 200 meter dashes and picked up victories in both events. Through three meets this year, he has won all 6 individual races. He ran the 60 meters in 6.85 seconds, his third in less than 6.9 seconds this season, and bested a field of nearly 90 runners. His run in the 200 meters was 21.58, improving on his provisional NAIA qualifying standard and setting the program record for the third time this year. The 200 meter event had 110 entries, of which Wilson was the top finisher.
Wilson is Defiance's first male track athlete to secure a weekly award from the WHAC. Mira Horvath was the lone female award winner during DC's first season of competition in the WHAC in 2024-25.
