Hardin-Wallace, Parrett Grab First Place at Northwest Ohio Invite
FINDLAY, Ohio – In the first meet of the 2013 calendar year for the Defiance College men’s track and field team, several athletes displayed strong outings at the Northwestern Ohio Invite on Friday, January 18. Overall, the squad took first place in two events, while notching second in three.

The Yellow Jackets had some of their best performances in the middle-distance and long-distance runs. First in the 800, the Purple and Gold went one and two, as sophomore Troy Parrett took first with a time of 2:00.01 and junior Madison Murphy followed a split-second behind him with a 2:00.64.
Then in the one-mile run, junior Joe Davis clocked in a time of 4:25.40, which was good for second. The Ontario High product was just over a half a second behind the leader.
Parrett, Murphy and Davis teamed up with sophomore Ryan Johnston and pieced together a 3:31.50 time in the 4x400-meter relay that gave them a second-place finish.
In the jumps area of the competition, the Jackets did notch a first-place spot, as senior Dan Hardin-Wallace conquered a height of 4.55 meters (14 ft. 11 inches).
For the throwers of the DC squad, senior Tom Postema threw in only the shot put and placed fourth with a throw of 15.13 meters. It was his first meet of the season. In the weight throw, a trio of juniors in Jacob Arnold, Anthony Nolfi and Luiyi Nunez all finished in the top-eight.
The Yellow Jackets will return home next weekend for their second home meet of the indoor season when they host the Defiance Invitational on Saturday, January 26. Action will start at 11 a.m.
