Matt Lydum Receives Fred Wilt Award for Coaching Education
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – DC’s Matt Lydum was recognized as a national leader in coaching education on Saturday, Dec. 4, when he was tagged with the Fred Wilt Award for Coaching Education at the 2010 USA Track and Field Annual Meeting.

Lydum serves as an assistant professor of education and sport sciences at Defiance College, while also spending time as an assistant track and field coach for the Yellow Jackets. In addition to his responsibilities at DC, Lydum is actively involved as a coordinator of the Instructor Training Courses for USATF, where he has been responsible for certifying hundreds of track and field coaches across the country.
Lydum served as the head track and field coach at Defiance College for three seasons before accepting his faculty position in 2007. The Yellow Jackets' 2011 track and field season is set to begin on January 21, and will mark Lydum's sixth season with the program.
