DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College men's soccer team faced a tough test Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0 to visiting Midway at Justin F. Coressel Stadium.
The Eagles struck quickly, scoring less than three minutes into the match. Midway continued to pressure throughout the half, adding four more goals before the break. Defiance trailed 5-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets tightened defensively but still saw Midway capitalize on chances. George Spencer tallied in the 51st minute before Dickson completed his hat trick in the 81st minute to seal the result.
Defiance generated offensive opportunities with nine shots, four of which were on target. Forward Griffin Meyer and midfielder Oscar Olivier each recorded shots on goal to test Midway keeper Landon Sorrell, who finished with four saves. Defensively, sophomore goalkeepers Tyler Harper and Jacob Goldsberry combined for eight saves while facing 15 shots on frame.
