Home Battle Against the Hornets Ends in a Draw

DEFIANCE, OHIO- The Defiance College men's soccer team hosted Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets ended in a 1-1 tie in double overtime after a hard-fought game against the Hornets.

The score remained 0-0 for the first entire first half as both teams created opportunities to score, but neither team was able to finish.

It was the Hornets that struck first early in the second half has Hayden Strobel crossed the ball to Ben Meschke, scoring the first goal of the game.

The Yellow Jackets answered back quickly as senior, Adam Ordel (Lima, Ohio / Elida) found the top corner of the net, evening out the score at 1-1.

Ordel scored the last goal of the game for either team in the fifty-third minute of play. Throughout two overtime periods, the teams were scoreless leaving the match between the Yellow Jackets and the Hornets at a draw. 

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Orry Killiam (Napoleon Ohio / Liberty Center) got his first start in the net for the Yellow Jackets. Killam tallied thirteen saves playing all 110 minutes in goal.

The Purple and Gold will be back in action Wednesday, September 11 as host Olivet College at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
