Gutierrez Named Freshman of the Year to Lead Men's Golf

ANDERSON, IND. - Freshman Federico Gutierrez claimed a fourth place finish earning Freshman of the Year honors to lead Defiance Men's Golf at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Anderson University.

Gutierrez finished with a combined score of 224 (73-77-74) strokes to claim all conference honors and the best finish by any Freshman in the league.

Freshman Diego Gonzalez claimed a 17th place finish with 235 (77-82-76) strokes. 

Senior Stephan Dolan finished his collegiate campaign with a 25 place finish, while freshman Oliver Thomas claimed a 31st place finish.

Sophomore Hayden Clingaman rounded out the scoring for Defiance carding a 253 (81-88-84) strokes good enough for a 33rd place finish in the 45 golfer field.

As a team, Defiance finished sixth overall with 949 (309-333-307) strokes in the 54-hole Championship.
