Ross Shoots Final Round 72 to Wrap Up at Ohio Wesleyan
DELAWARE, Ohio – While many of the golf fans around the world were watching the Master’s Tournament on Sunday, April 14, junior Mike Ross was doing his best impersonation of the pro’s by shooting a 72 on the final 18 holes of the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
DELAWARE, Ohio – While many of the golf fans around the world were watching the Master's Tournament on Sunday, April 14, junior Mike Ross was doing his best impersonation of the pro's by shooting a 72 on the final 18 holes of the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
The Bryan High product shaved six strokes off of his Saturday scorecard to turn in the season-best mark of 72. Ross finished the tournament with 150 strokes that put him tied for 17th place.
Senior Alex Goecke stayed consistent with his game in the final round by shooting a second-straight day of 80 to finish 36th. Other final scores for Defiance were junior Josh DeGroff at 166 (43rd) and sophomores Ryan Edelbrock at 170 (45th) and Hurst Talbot at 178 (Tied – 52nd).
Otterbein College led after day one and held on to win the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational with a two-round score of 576. The host Battling Bishops finished second with 582 strokes after shooting the best second-round team score of 283. The Yellow Jackets concluded the invitational in seventh place. DC recorded rounds of 324 and 322 to combine for a final mark of 646 strokes.
The Purple and Gold men's golf team returns to the links next weekend when it hosts the annual Defiance Spring Invite on Saturday, April 20. The Eagle Rock Golf Club will be the site of the invitational and tee times are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
