Cam Awls joined the Yellow Jackets coaching staff in May 2025, marking his return to Defiance, where he started his collegiate basketball career. He is a Sylvania, Ohio native and graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School in 2020, where he played for Coach Floyd for two seasons. At Central Catholic, Awls developed a strong foundation in leadership, teamwork, and competitiveness before continuing his basketball career at DC and Trine University. After two seasons at Defiance, Awls joined a prolific Trine squad that captured the 2023-24 MIAA regular-season championship and the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Following his playing career, Awls transitioned into coaching, where he has spent multiple years working on the AAU basketball scene. His coaching style emphasizes player development, communication, accountability, and building confidence both on and off the court. With experience as both a high-level player and coach, Awls brings passion, energy, and a team-first mentality to every program he is a part of while remaining committed to helping athletes reach their full potential.
