Angstmann named Second Team All-WHAC in postseason awards
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College men's basketball received honors for individual on-court and classroom excellence for the 2025-26 in Friday's announcement of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference's Men's Basketball All-Conference Awards.
Sophomore Evan Angstmann (St. Mary's, Ohio/St. Mary's Memorial) was named Second Team All-WHAC and the program's first all-conference player since 2022-23. Angstmann led the Jackets in scoring at 15.4 points per game and rebounding at 6.1 per contest, each of which were 13th-best in the WHAC. He was also one of the conference's premier 3-point shooters by finishing 4th in the league in made 3-pointers with 78, which was 6th-most in a season in DC men's basketball history. Among his signature performances throughout the season was a 39-point outburst in an overtime win over Washington Adventist in which he set the single-game 3-point record with 11 treys. He also hauled in 20 rebounds in the season finale against Aquinas and blocked 4 shots, helping him earn WHAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Three Yellow Jackets were selected as Academic All-Conference. Dre'Sean Roberts (Piqua, Ohio/Piqua) picked up his second straight conference honor while Devonte Curry (Columbus, Ohio/Briggs) and Carter Sudhoff (Spencerville, Ohio/Spencerville) earned their first. The WHAC All-Academic Team consists of sophomores or above with a cumulative 3.25 GPA who have been at their school for one full year.
Additionally, freshman forward Logan Horton (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) was named to the WHAC's Champions of Character Team for exemplifying the NAIA five core values of respect, integrity, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
