Sudhoff snags WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Award
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College sophomore men's basketball player Carter Sudhoff was named WHAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the conference announced on Monday.
Helping the Yellow Jackets to a 2-1 week, Sudhoff topped the charts for the Yellow Jackets in rebounding the basketball with 17 total boards, including 14 off the defensive glass. He also blocked three shots, highlighted by 2 blocks early in the second half against Washington Adventist on Saturday. While held to four rebounds in that win, the sophomore forward made his presence felt throughout the night by forcing the Shock to take shots away from the basket while he was in the game. The Spencerville product also nearly missed a double-double in Friday's win over Wright State Lake with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Through six games this season, the Yellow Jackets are leading the WHAC defensively at 68.0 points per game allowed. This week's award is the first-career Player of the Week Award for Sudhoff and the first for the DC men's basketball program as a member of the WHAC.
