Jackson named MSFA Mideast Defensive Player of the Week
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The strong finish to the 2025 football season carried over into the final installment of the Mid-States Football Association's player of the week awards as Defiance College's Christian Jackson (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) was named Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Aiding the Yellow Jackets to a 43-34 win at Lawrence Tech on Saturday, the freshman defender led DC with 10 tackles to set a single-game high to wrap up his first season at Defiance. Jackson delivered two critical sacks on Lawrence Tech's final drive of the game. The Toledo Central Catholic grad dropped the quarterback on first down to start the possession, and he also nearly missed a safety when he got in the backfield for the second time in three plays for another sack at the 2-yard line with just 2 minutes left. That last stand preserved DC's 9-point advantage to hold on and win the season finale.
Jackson posted a total of 30 tackles over the last month of the season to lead Defiance during the last four games. This week's honor is the first-career Player of the Week Award for Jackson and also keeps the Mideast Defensive Player of the Week Award at DC for the second consecutive week.
