Defiance Football announces 2014 Schedule

DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets football team and head coach Brian Sheehan have announced the schedule for the 2014 season.

The Yellow Jackets schedule, which opens up on September 6, 2014 at home against Adrian College, features six home dates to be played at Justin Coressel Stadium.

The season opener against the Bulldogs will be the first of four games, three at home, for the Yellow Jackets in the month of September. Defiance will play three games each in the months of October and November.

Defiance will also host Centre College in a non-conference game at home in 2014, playing the Colonels on September 13 before the Yellow Jackets get Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play underway.

The Yellow Jackets will open up HCAC play the following weekend against the College of Mount St. Joseph. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start on September 20.

Nine of Defiance's 10 games in 2014 are slated for a 1:30 p.m. start. The only exception will be a October 25th game at Earlham that is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Following the three game homestand to begin the season, Defiance will travel to the road for games two and three of HCAC play against Hanover College and Manchester University. DC will play the Panthers on September 27 in Hanover, Ind.

After the Yellow Jackets bye week slated for October 4, Defiance will go back to the road, making the short trek west to North Manchester, Ind. for the game against the Spartans.

The Purple and Gold's lone home game in the month of October will fall on October 18 when Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology comes to Defiance. The game against RHIT will also be the schools annual homecoming week, with festivities leading up to the game scheduled for the week of October 13-19.

Defiance will close out the month of October with its aforementioned contest against Earlham.

In November, the Yellow Jackets will host Anderson University and Franklin College to close out the home schedule. The Yellow Jackets will play Anderson on November 1, with a visit from the defending HCAC Champions of Franklin on November 8.

Defiance will close its regular season with its annual rivalry game against Bluffton University on November 15 in Bluffton, Ohio.
