Defiance Esports lands 12 student-athletes among WHAC Academic and All-conference Awards
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced the 2024-25 Esports awards during last weekend's conference championships with a dozen Defiance College student-athletes recognized.
The league holds championships in Rocket League, League of Legends, Valorant and Overwatch 2. Each game has a First and Second Team All-Conference and Player of the Year. Additionally, student athletes with a sophomore standing or above with a cumulative 3.25 GPA and have been at their institution for at least one year are eligible for Academic All-Conference.
Junior Daniel Aranovsky competes in three of the team's games and was honored on the WHAC's Champion of Character team and was also Academic All-Conference. Freshman Auston Howland was also recognized for his superior play in Valorant and was named Second Team All-Conference, earning the program's lone All-Conference award.
The Yellow Jackets also had 11 Academic All-Conference winners: Aranovsky, Blake Bowman, Sam Boyles, Matthew Craig, Branden Durkee, Cole Mabis, Damien Martinez, Elijah Mayes, Cooper Sloan, Connor Stanfield, and Peyton Switzer.
