Esports Rundown: Two teams pick up early-season victories
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Two of Defiance's Esports teams earned early-season wins in their respective games and conferences during the second week of spring competition. The Yellow Jackets picked up wins in WHAC Valorant and NECC Rocket League.
Valorant shook off an NECC loss to Dalhousie on Monday and evened their WHAC record to 1-1 with a 2-0 victory over Lourdes on Tuesday night. The match against Lourdes resulted in game wins of 13-4 and 13-11. Auston Howland led the team in both matches with 135 total kills followed by Daniel Aranovsky with 93 over the two matches.
In Rocket League at the NECC level, DC's Gold Team earned a 3-2 victory in a tight contest against Kettering. Tayven Halbiesen posted seven goals alongside Gabriel Bookman's five scores and five saves. The Gold Team is now 1-0 in NECC action for the spring semester.
This week, the Yellow Jackets compete in Valorant in the NECC against Montclair. They battle Indiana Tech on Tuesday night followed by a Rocket League dates with Thomas More on Thursday.
