Esports Rundown: Rocket League, Overwatch earn first NECC victories
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College Esports had another busy week with Rocket League, Overwatch and Valorant all in full swing for the fall season.
In Rocket League, the Yellow Jackets defeated Washtenaw 3-1 in NECC play with games of 2-3, 3-1, 3-2 and 3-2. The JV unit in turn fell to Wayncesburg 3-2. In WHAC play for Rocket League, the Yellow Jackets fell to 1-4 on the year with conference losses to Concordia and Saint Xavier. The trio of Asa Moledor, Cooper Sloan, and Andre Tibs teamed up to score 10 goals in all but fell 3-2 to the Cardinals last Monday. On Tuesday against Saint Xavier, DC was limited to just three goals overall, including two scored by Blake Bowman, in a three-game sweep for the Cougars.
The Overwatch team were downed by Louisville 3-0 before bouncing back to take down Murray State to even their NECC record to 1-1.
Lastly in Valorant, the Yellow Jackets lost 2-0 to Saint Vincent to fall to 1-1 on the season. Auston Howland led the squad with 48 kills and a sterling 360 efficiency score followed by 23 kills by Matthew Craig. Damien Martinez, Elijah Mayes, Fernando Sanabria-Nieves and Lydia Fernandez also competed in the match.
The Yellow Jackets have a busy week with two more WHAC Rocket League matches and compete in NECC Valorant and Rocket League as well.
