Gilliland Earns HCAC Hitter of the Week

GREENWOOD, IND. -- Junior Michael Gilliland (Napoleon) has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for his performance during Defiance's 4-2 overall record last week.

Gilliland finished the week batting a blazing .480, as he went 12-of-25 to go along with his .600 slugging percentage. The highlight of his performance came in the ninth inning of Thursday's win over Manchester, as his walk-off homer clinched a 6-5 victory for the Purple and Gold. Gilliland finished the week with four RBI and 15 total bases.

Defiance is set to return to action with the last week of regular season play on Tuesday, May 1, as they travel to Mount St. Joseph University. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2 p.m.
