DC basketball programs hosting Unified Basketball Games on Sunday, March 23
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College men's and women's basketball program's are teaming up with Special Olympics of Defiance and Henry County for a series of unified basketball games at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Sunday, March 23.
Beginning at noon, current Yellow Jacket hoopers will be dispersed among eight teams made up of members of Defiance County Special Olympics and Henry County Special Olympics. There will be a total of four games throughout the afternoon showcasing the joy, camaraderie and sportsmanship of basketball. The Special Olympics aids its athletes' physical, social and psychological development by hosting year-round training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
This event is open to the public and will take place alongside the Founder's Day festivities at Defiance College to celebrate DC's 175th anniversary.
"Both of our basketball teams are excited to host this event with the Special Olympics from Defiance County and Henry County. We also look forward to integrating this partnership with other sports at Defiance College and further fostering the connection between the city and campus communities," says Defiance College Athletic Director Tiffani Selhorst.
