DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's soccer team suffered their second consecutive loss this afternoon, falling 3-0 to Division II Malone University. They now drop to 1-3 on the season.
Sophomore keeper Madi Bowman made 18 saves on the afternoon, but the Pioneer attack blasted the Yellow Jacket net, hoisting 24 shots in the first half alone. Malone opened the scoring within the first ten minutes, scoring at the 7:47 minute-mark by Danielle Lung. Lung followed that with a second goal in the 23rd minute before Brylee Jones elevated the Pioneer lead to 3-0 with just over two minutes left in the half.
Defiance stepped up the intensity in the second half, getting off seven shots, compared to two in the first half, while holding Malone to 18. Sydney Hoiberg led the Jackets with three shot, two on goal. Kassie Memmer also added three shots as Whitney Webb added two of her own.
DC looks to bounce back on Saturday, September 16 as they travel to Delaware, Ohio to take on Ohio Wesleyan University. Kick-off will begin at 1:00 PM.
